Swim Lessons
Claremont Parks & Recreation is excited to partner with the Upper Valley Aquatic Center to expand aquatic programming opportunities at the Claremont Savings Bank Community Center. Through this partnership, the experienced staff from the Upper Valley Aquatic Center will be offering a comprehensive swim lesson program designed to help participants of all ages and skill levels develop confidence, safety, and proficiency in the water.
Lessons are available for swimmers ranging from first-time participants to advanced swimmers looking to improve stroke technique, endurance, and overall aquatic skills. Programs are led by certified instructors who focus on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment while emphasizing water safety and skill progression.
Parent & Me
Designed for young children and their caregivers, this class uses songs, games, and guided activities to introduce basic water skills including floating, submersion, rollovers, and introductory breathing techniques in a fun family setting.
Starfish/Minnows
A beginner-level class focused on water comfort and confidence. Participants work on bubbles, assisted glides, back floats, kick development, and wall bobs while building foundational swimming skills.
Level 1
Introduces independent water entry and exit, nose bubbles, assisted floats and glides, rollovers, and jumping skills. Swimmers begin developing confidence and independence in the water.
Level 2
Focuses on independent floating, gliding, rollovers, streamline kicking, and jumping bobs. Participants continue strengthening their basic swimming abilities and water confidence.
Level 3
Introduces more advanced movement patterns including flutter kick recovery, dolphin kick, finning, sculling, and underwater object retrieval while developing stronger propulsion and body control.
Level 4
Swimmers begin learning side breathing, crawl stroke techniques, back kick rotation, somersaults, and treading water while building endurance and stroke efficiency.
Level 5
Develops proficiency in crawl stroke with rotary breathing, treading water, object retrieval, and introduces diving, breaststroke, and backstroke techniques.
Level 6
An advanced-level course focused on endurance and stroke refinement in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, while continuing to develop diving and water survival skills.
Dolphin Level
Designed for swimmers who are ready to further refine their swimming abilities. This level emphasizes front and back floats, glides with rollovers, kicking technique, junior stroke development with breathing coordination, and advanced water safety skills.
