Week 1 of the acclimation block is done!
A quick note on acclimation - for me, this is getting back into a routine in relation to training, nutrition tracking and other habits to help make the future fat loss blocks a bit easier in terms of keeping those things consistent. This is off the back of a break during December due to illness and that time of year being difficult for me personally.
So how have I found this first week? Firstly, let’s look at training and nutrition.
Training
I’ve really enjoyed training again. My coach and I have kept my sessions to 45 minutes to an hour to help with my time management as a personal trainer. The intensity of my sessions have still been pretty high though, and I’m happy with where I am. Off the back of my weekly check in with my coach, we have taken out pull ups as I am struggling with the mind-muscle connection, and also discussed chest press movements and how best to control them to maximise the engagement.
Nutrition
I’m currently at maintenance calories and this is my first time tracking for about 6 months. I’ve had struggles with tracking in the past but the approach we are taking in the acclimation is to be as consistent as possible, whist monitoring thoughts and feelings around food, and reflecting on these. This has allowed me to have a relaxed control (if that’s a thing!) on tracking which I’m enjoying.
Overall, I think the wins for this first week are that I feel in control with my training and my nutrition and I can manage these in my routine. I also feel this week has given shown me I need to take some time to manage my workload in my role as a personal trainer and with other things I have going on, so I can prioritise what’s important. This is something I am going to take forward and use the next 5 weeks to focus on. So there we have it, week 1 of acclimation is done and on to week 2!
