Simple Garlic Bread
Simple Garlic Bread
The BEST garlic bread recipe is right here! Two typical garlic bread methods: toasted and crisped under the broiler, and softened in the oven after being wrapped in aluminium foil.
INGREDIENTS
This is simply a quick rundown of the four essential ingredients for making the best garlic bread.
Bread: I'll use white bread because it's easy to come by.
Salted butter has been softened to make it easier to spread. The salt in the butter enhances the flavour of the garlic bread. If you're using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt to your spread before serving.
Garlic should be carefully diced or pressed to avoid large bits of garlic on your toast. You can also keep a jar of minced fresh garlic in your refrigerator for those evenings when you don't want to bother with peeling cloves!
Herbs like parsley give a burst of flavour and a splash of colour to the dish. Fresh parsley is preferable, although 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes will suffice in a pinch.
How to make homemade garlic bread
My quick garlic bread recipe is by far my family's favourite of all the foods and meal ideas I've posted on this site. It's something I cook at least once a week to offer anytime we have an Italian meal. Best of all, you can make it ahead of time and freeze the bread to use anytime you want!
Slice Bread. Cut the bread in half lengthwise. This procedure is made much easier by using a large serrated bread knife.
Make Garlic Bread Spread. Combine the softened butter, garlic, and parsley in a small bowl.
Place Bread on Baking Sheet. Arrange the bread halves on a rimmed baking sheet, cut side up.
Butter the bread. Apply the garlic butter to the tops of the bread slices, making care to cover them completely. The greater the number, the better!
Bake. Preheat the oven to 400°F and toast the garlic bread for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. This could take even longer depending on your bread.
Cut and serve. Serve the bread warm, cut into individual slices.
