Ensure accurate registers are taken and returned to the SA.
Attend monthly Convenor meetings and mandatory training.
Facilitate all Society meetings reliably and on time. If you are unable to facilitate a meeting, please let us know as soon as possible per the SA Absence Reporting policy.
Collaborate with fellow Convenors to host cross-society meetings and events.
Maintain regular contact with the Vice President of Social and Activities, Polly Vaker. She can be contacted at polly.vaker@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk
The SA is here to support you in building and promoting your society to make it the best it can be. Here are three key factors you should focus on to keep your meetings, motivation and membership on point throughout the whole year:
Building your Society: the Yearly Planner
The most important tool for building a successful society is your Yearly Planner. The VP of Social and Activities along with other SA staff will support you in completing this at the beginning of the year.
The Yearly Planner allows you to plan regular meeting times and dates, one-off events and cross-Society collaborations well ahead of time so that they can be successfully promoted through the SA. It also allows you to prepare for how to mitigate falls in attendance that typically happen at 'pressure points' during the year such as exam time.
Building your Society: the Active Society Awards
Every year we review our Societies' performance against key factors such as attendance, inter-Society collaboration and Convenors' engagement with SA training. Based on this, we award Societies either Bronze, Silver or Gold status (see here for current Active Society Award ratings). Achieving each award unlocks increasing benefits such as:
Access to more funding for Society events and resources (up to £200 at Gold level)
Increased independence, e.g. ability to hold elections for Convenors at Gold level, rather than having them appointed by the SA
Society member discounts on SA merch
