Much of what the SA does involves engaging with students to gather ideas and feedback. This means we can make sure what we offer matches students' wants and needs. Depending on your role, you will be involved in some or all of the activities listed below: take a look for more details!
SA on Campus:
Involves talking to students in-between classes, gathering student opinions on a particular topic or asking them to engage with a quick activity. Take a look at our How-to guide on engaging students.
Can be requested by Parliament Members and members of the Presidential Team: if you have an idea for an SA on Campus, let us know!
Is one of our most successful methods of reaching out to our students for real-time feedback and raising awareness of SA work
Happens regularly, with Parliament Members and the Presidential Team participating alongside other SA and Student Engagement staff.
The SA runs a variety of campaigns every year on topics based on current affairs as well as the interests of our students. Take a look at current and previous campaigns here.
Student Parliament Members can contribute to SA Campaigns and set up their own. Speak to the SA Co-ordinator for more information on this process and take a look at our How-to Guide for creating campaign content here.
We welcome suggestions for events from anyone who works with us. In the past, we have hosted:
Exhibitions
Stalls
Workshops,
Performances
Sports tournaments
SA colleagues will help you to:
Have your event approved by the SA Team
Complete a Workplan
Complete a Risk Assessment and Equality Impact Assessment.
Case studies are a great way to evaluate your work, whatever your role with the SA.
Case studies allow us to gather:
Statistics on how many students are engaging in our activities
Who those students are, e.g. their faculty and course
Feedback from staff and students
This means we can:
Assess how successful we were in reaching a wide and diverse student population
Make improvements to our offering and communications strategy to reflect student feedback. This will boost the numbers and diversity of students we engage with.
Take a look at our Case Study template to learn more.
