Learn how to construct the necessary circuit to play City Escape! Note that the schematic does not include the 330Ω resistors. These resistors are necessary and are located on the breadboard depicted to the left.
Download the Arduino code necessary to play City Escape! Click the button below, and then click "Download." Click the pop-up file in the bottom left of your screen. It may ask you to create a folder called "CityEscape" to store the file. Click "OK" to create the folder and open the file. Upload the code to the RedBoard using the USB connector.
To understand how the code works, click the button below to view a comprehensive, pseudocode diagram! To gain a deeper understanding of all of the parts of the game, please read our commented code.
Arduino Cover Assembly:
Click the button above and print the pdf file.
Tape the cut-out shape to a piece of cardboard.
Use an X-Acto knife to completely cut the cardboard along the edges of the shape denoted by hidden lines (short, dashed lines).
Use the X-Acto knife to completely cut out the three rectangles inside the shape denoted by the hidden lines.
Use the X-Acto knife to cut half the thickness of the cardboard along the center lines of the Top face (long and short dashes). This will allow you to bend the cardboard (see the top picture on the right).
Remove the paper from the cardboard. You should be left with only a piece of cardboard that resembles the shape.
Referencing the paper, fold the cardboard along each center line on the Top face of the box.
Use tape to connect the regions denoted by the hatched rectangles on the Front, Back, Left, and Right faces on the paper.
Place the cardboard on the RedBoard/breadboard so the LCD screen emerges from the cut-out rectangle on the Top face.
Referencing the paper, fold the cardboard along the remaining center line (located on the far left) to form the bottom of the box. Tape this face to the others according to the hatched rectangles on the paper.
Connect a battery to the RedBoard using the barrel jack, which is accessible from the top rectangle on the right side (see right).

Tape the cut-out shape to a piece of cardboard.
Use an X-Acto knife to completely cut the cardboard along the edges of the shape denoted by hidden lines (short, dashed lines).
Use the X-Acto knife to completely cut out the ellipse on the Top face of the shape denoted by the hidden lines.
Use the X-Acto knife to cut half the thickness of the cardboard along the center lines of the Top face (long and short dashes). Again, this will allow you to bend the cardboard.
Remove the paper from the cardboard. You should be left with only a piece of cardboard that resembles the shape.
Referencing the paper, fold the cardboard along each center line on the Top face of the box.
Use tape to connect the regions denoted by the hatched rectangles on the Front, Back, Left, and Right faces of the paper.
Place the cardboard on the RedBoard/breadboard so the LED’s emerge from the cut-out ellipse on the Top face of the box.
Referencing the paper, fold the cardboard along the remaining center line (located on the far right) to form the bottom of the box. Tape this face to the others according to the hatched rectangles on the paper.
Turn the Baseplate over and tape the bottom faces of the boxes together.
Click the button above to print the gameboard for City Escape! Line up the papers using the colors on each sheet, and attach the sheets to a piece of cardboard. If you'd like, cut half the thickness of the cardboard where the edges of each paper connect. This will create a foldable gameboard for easy storage!
