Short Bio
Ciro Bazán holds a doctorate in economics and has extensive experience in academic research, university teaching, and higher education leadership. He earned his PhD and Master’s degrees in Economics from the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Spain, and holds a B.S. in Mechanical–Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de Piura (UDEP), Peru. He was awarded the Robert S. McNamara Fellowship from the World Bank Institute, which supported the completion of his doctoral dissertation during a research stay at ULPGC.
His research focuses on energy economics, macroeconomics, dynamic economic modeling, applied mathematics in economics, and selected topics in social sciences. He has published peer-reviewed articles in internationally recognized journals such as Energy Strategy Reviews, The Electricity Journal, Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, and the International Journal of Differential Equations. He is also the author and co-author of academic books on dynamic macroeconomics and dynamical systems for economists.
Dr. Bazán has actively contributed to international research conferences in Spain, Ecuador, Chile, and Peru, participating in in-person, virtual, and poster sessions. He has over 25 years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels, having taught at institutions including UDEP, USAT, USS, UA, ESAN, UPC, and USIL.
In addition to his academic career, he has held senior leadership roles in higher education, serving as Director of Research at USAT and UA, Head of the Academic Department at USAT, and Dean of the Faculty of Business Sciences at USIL. He is currently certified as a Researcher in Science and Technology by CONCYTEC (Peru) and is an active member of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) and the American Economic Association (AEA). He is presently a full-time professor at the USS Graduate School.
