I work for Pittsford CSD at Pittsford Mendon High School. This is my first year teaching at MHS; however, I have five years teaching experience from other districts. I am teaching three sections of Algebra, one section of Geometry and AIS. I have my B.A in Mathematics with Adolescence Education and MS.ED in Educational Technology. In my spare time I love to do CrossFit and Garden.

Alexandra Edwards

Alexandra Edwards is in her 10th year of teaching. She teaches 7th and 8th grade math at Hilton Central School District. She has been educating using an Inquiry-based Learning program for the past 5 years and truly believes that it is the best way for students to learn mathematics! In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, cooking, and learning new languages.

Mary Losito

Mary Losito

Mary is currently in her 6th year teaching at OCM BOCES Alternative Education Reach Program for grades 7-8. She teaches Common Core Math 7/8, Math 180, and Money 101. She promotes a growth mindset within her classroom and pushes her students to the max! Since her students come from 23 different districts, there is an especially wide range of mathematical backgrounds within her classes. Mary uses multiple strategies in order to “bridge the gap” for students below grade level such as implementing the “Problem Based Learning” instructional model and inquiry based learning.

Dyan Palmer

I am in my 6th year teaching at Young Women's College Prep Charter School in Rochester, New York. Most of my time there has been spent teaching 7th grade. Although I enjoy the relevance of 7th grade math, I mostly enjoy teaching the upper level courses. I love to cook and love to spend my spare time at the Public Market and trying new recipes.

Michael Pawlikowski

Michael Pawlikowski teaches mathematics at Depew High School. He has also taught math and math education courses at SUNY Geneseo and Buffalo State College. Additionally Michael has served on the executive board and is an active member of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State (AMTNYS), been a manuscript reviewer and active member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), and currently a New York State Master Teacher (NYSMTP). He uses research to inform his teaching practices which his interests include social metacognition and micro-creativity of small group processes, and problem posing and problem solving in mathematics.

Mary Plumb

Mary Plumb chairs the Mathematics Department at Falconer Middle/High School, where she teaches high school mathematics and middle school STEM. She is a NYS Master Teacher. Much of her professional work has focused on growth mindset, conceptual development of mathematical relationships and problem-based learning. She strives to achieve equity in the classroom and believes all students can succeed at high levels in mathematics.

Mary Plumb

Mary Beth Richey

Mary Beth Richey teaches Algebra II and AP Calculus at East Aurora High School where she is the Math Department Chairperson and National Honor Society Advisor. Mary Beth teaches in the STEM Program at East Aurora High School, a selective four-year interdisciplinary program for students interested in the STEM fields. She has been creating and using Inquiry Based Lessons in her flipped Algebra II classes. She is a NYS Master Teacher Emeritus, as well as a member of AMTNYS and NCTM.

Lizzie Van Harken

Lizzie Van Harken is teaching mathematics as an Academic Intervention Specialist at Sweet Home Middle School. She also teaches part-time at Bryant & Stratton College. Lizzie is passionate about designing mathematical experiences that enable students to see math as useful and relevant to their lives. She believes that contextualized problems are ideal canvases for learning because of their openness and generativity.

Jane Cushman

Jane Cushman is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Mathematics Department at Buffalo State College. She is actively involved in the inquiry-based learning community. She participates in the multi-million dollar NSF-funded PRODUCT grant which, among other things facilitates summer workshops. She also is a co-founder of the Upstate New York IBL Consortium.

Keiko Dow

Keiko Dow is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at D'Youville College. Ever since Keiko took an IBL topology class as an undergraduate student, she strongly believes in IBL/Active Learning. She is a member of the Upstate New York Inquiry-Based learning Consortium.

Ryan Gantner

Ryan Gantner is an Associate Professor at St. John Fisher College. He is active with various inquiry-based learning projects: he is a co-founder and director of the Upstate New York Inquiry-Based Learning Consortium, he is involved in the NSF PRODUCT project, he has run Math Teachers' Circles in the Rochester area, and he has just completed his term as Chair of the Seaway Section of the Mathematical Association of America.

Yousuf George

Yousuf George is the Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences and an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Nazareth College. Yousuf is a co-founder of the Rochester Area Math Teachers' Circle and the Upstate New York Inquiry-Based Learning Consortium. He is passionate about math and wants everyone else to be, too!
