Unesco CID EAST: Rutherford Section

The CID Rutherford Section establised in March 2023  is the official representative of Conseil International de la Danse (the International Dance Council) in North-East USA.

The International Dance Council (United Nations of Dance) is the official organization for all forms of dance in all countries of the world. Its members are the most prominent federations, associations, schools, companies, and individuals in more than 170 countries.

It is a non-governmental organization founded in 1973 within the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) whose headquarters is based in Paris, France. CID is an official partner of UNESCO.


Membership Benefits

In addition to the prestigious title of Member of the International Dance Council CID, the highest body for dance, you will be entitled to:


1. Receive a membership confirmation letter and parchment paper for wall framing, as well as CID badges, stickers, posters, and other materials.


2. Present your work at world congresses, international festivals, workshops, competitions, and other important events organized by Members of the CID.


3. Offer to your students and International Certification of Dance Studies, the official validation of teaching all over the world.


4. Be informed about opportunities such as scholarships, jobs, invitations to perform, to teach or to lecture, new publications, etc. The CID Circular is mailed to over 30,000 dance professionals in 200 countries.


5. Be listed with your full profile in the Global Dance Directory (over 400,000 addresses, by far the largest in the arts): www.cid-portal.org/directory


6. Address inquiries to the CID Secretariat which is staffed by full-time experienced professionals and has a huge archive of resources.


7. Meet other members and be part of a network of thousands of specialists in more than 170 countries.


8. Have a discount at events (workshops, competitions, festivals, etc.) or publications by member organizations.


9. Obtain legal advice on professional matters.


10. Publish articles and electronic books at CID Writings

Yearly Membership fee structure is as follows:



Student/Organization Certification

Each qualifying participant must complete their respective school approved module of 150 hours. The school, the teacher, and the student all must be members of CID. Once the 150 hours are completed, students are awarded certification at a special ceremony. CID sends formal certification on parchment paper, and it is valid worldwide.
