Social Design for waste picker: Street Patch Weave Unlimited Company

拾荒者── 一個被遺忘、邊緣化的群體。

Waste Picker── A marginalized group which is not remembered by the society.

在我們的印象中，他們的工作環境髒亂、窮困、沒有專業能力。

In our impression, their working environment is messy and dirty, they are poor, they don't have professional skills.

他們沒有工會，拖著年邁的身體穿梭在街道上，也經常發生交通意外。

They don't have a labor union to raise their voices, walking on the street with old and fragile bodies, often injured by traffic.

他們正面臨的處境：

What's the situations they face?

1 附近居民認為居住品質被影響

2 政府勒令收掉回收廠，維持市容

3 部分人誤解拾荒者是因為鍛鍊身體而工作的有錢人

其實，他們每年的回收量和清潔隊不相上下；

但，清潔隊的收入卻是拾荒者的10倍。

In fact, the amount of waste picker recycling contributed is almost the same as official Sanitation Worker.

改變處境，從形象開始：

Change the situations, from the impression:

如果他們工作環境不髒亂?

如果拾荒者也被視為一個專業的職業？

What if they are not dirty?

What if their working places are not messy?

What if their career are as professional as any other?

翻轉負面印象，塑造正面形象。

Turn around the negative impression to the positive one.

讓拾荒者的社會貢獻進入大眾視野，拾荒也是值得被尊重的職業。

Bring the contributions of waste pickers into the public eyes.

Design Application

設計一個虛擬聯合集團，從拾荒者工作系統切入設計。

從垃圾被丟棄，到拾荒者撿拾，再到回收，並將回收物重新利用。

Design a virtual union, systematizing the whole process of waste picker's work.

From the moment trash is thrown away, to the final step of recycling by our waste picker. Even reuse recycables to make our uniform.

➀ 第一階段_丟棄垃圾 Throw Trash

拾荒者撿拾的一大宗為紙箱，將拾荒者資訊介紹印於紙箱上。

丟棄紙箱前，了解後續是誰來處理吧！

People use a lot of cardboard and throw it away?

Before you throw it away, understand who handles it afterward!

像是台灣傳統的「偷丟垃圾，神明在看」文宣一樣，

在公園休息嗎？記得把垃圾帶走！

Have a picnic in the park? 

Sure — just don’t forget to take your trash.

➂ 第三階段_回收 Recycling 

拾荒者專屬回收站，解決回收場偏遠問題。將回收站設於公園等公共空間，以回收機直接換錢。

Recycling station for waste picker, solving the problem that recycling yard is too far away.

It’s set up in parks or public spaces, and the recycling machines can turn recyclables into money directly.

在理想的世界中，他們穿著光鮮亮麗的衣服，

就像是其他職業一樣，對社會有巨大的貢獻。

In ideal world, They are easy to identfied,

As same as other carrer, they deliver huge destribution for society.
