CCMR - Dual Credit

We partner with Northeast Lakeview College to offer eligible students the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost. Dual credit classes are typically taught by Canyon staff members, unless otherwise noted, and follow the same curriculum, lessons, and expectations as courses taken by other college students. Students can begin taking general education and core curriculum courses, typically starting in 10th grade.

Students must complete all of the steps listed below in order to successfully enroll in a Dual Credit course. Please note that enrolling in Dual Credit involves several steps and is more than simply notifying your counselor that you would like to take a Dual Credit course.

Note: Courses can only be offered if CHS has a qualified instructor and 15 or more students signed up for the course.

Dual Credit Process

Take the TSI: Students interested in taking a Dual Credit class must take the TSI. While eligible TSI scores are not required for students taking 15 hours or less of college credit, the TSI helps us determine whether you are prepared for college-level coursework. Please make sure you sign up for a TSI test before the March application deadline. You can find more information here.
Attend the Mandatory Dual Credit Session: Students are required to attend a mandatory session where we will review the steps, requirements, and expectations for taking a Dual Credit course. More information about this session will be provided as we get closer to the spring semester.
Submit your course request: Students must list dual credit courses on their course request. In addition, students must complete a separate form letting Ms. Valverde know which Dual Credit course they are interested in taking. You can find that form here.
Apply to Northeast Lakeview College: Students must submit an application to Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) in order to take a Dual Credit course. The application can be found here. This is only required for NEW dual credit students. If you have taken a dual credit course the semester before your request, you will not need to complete this step.
Complete the Student/Parent Consent Form: If you have never taken a Dual Credit course, both the student and parent must complete the Northeast Lakeview College Consent Form. The completed form must be submitted by the designated deadline.

Students who do not complete all required steps by the designated deadlines will not be eligible to enroll in a Dual Credit course. Deadlines will be posted soon!
