AVID: Advancement Via Individual Determination

Deadline Alert: Schedule change requests (including Academy course changes) must be emailed to your counselor by March 6, 2026, at 3 PM. No requests will be accepted after the deadline. 

What is AVID?

AVID is an elective class during the school day that provides academic support. AVID prepares students for college eligibility, college readiness, and lifelong success. We learn how to better play the game of school to succeed in Honors, Dual Enrollment (DE), and Advanced Placement (AP) classes. We use strategies of WICOR as our foundation to learn at a deeper level.

The application is due Friday, February 13, 2026**, by 5 PM. Students should log in using their fcpsschools.net credentials to complete the application. Interviews are REQUIRED. 

**Students completing the application after February 13 need to email Mrs. Karen Molloy after completing the application to schedule an interview and notify her that the application is complete.
