The Bioarchaeology Lab houses a number of instruments to facilitate research. In addition to the instruments described below, we have equipment for generating bone and tooth slides, a NextEngine 3D Laser Scanner, and a variety of compound and dissecting microscopes.
Acquired via a grant from the National Science Foundation, this device provides 3D representations of surfaces at microscopic scales. We use it to conduct dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA).
Provides high magnification and high resolution images of three-dimensional objects.
Provides 3D representations of macroscopic objects. We use it to replicate entire dental surfaces. We use this primarily to study dental cusp morphology.
