About Me

In May 2020, I was married to Cassie, and now most of my favorite things to do are with her! We met working together at a summer camp, and this is something we still like to do. We also like exploring, playing board/card games, and cooking and baking.

Since 2014, I have enjoyed an almost annual week working on rebuilding houses with Brethren Disaster Ministries. We travel to places that have suffered at the hands of a natural disaster and work on repair to houses or sometimes new builds. It has become probably my favorite week of the year, as it is a great opportunity to help people who are in need, see and meet friends, and maybe pick up some construction skills along the way. I also love looking for math/science outreach opportunities. In the past couple of years, I have helped with  MSU Math Camps, MathCounts, the local Science Olympiad, Girls' Math and Science Day, and Campfire Science Night. The latter two of those were sponsored by Graduate Women in Science . I look forward to finding more outreach opportunities in Western North Carolina!
