In the video above, we see an example of precipitation. Due to the warmer temperatures, this precipitation was actually graupel. It was around 34 degrees Fahrenheit when this occurred, which was the likely cause. Snow/graupel is a form of solid precipitation that is formed when deposition occurs within a cloud, which involves water vapor transforming directly from vapor to ice. The graupel was formed from cooled water droplets freeze onto falling snowflakes. The graupels appear as small pellets.
