Nine Eucharistic Processions at Annunciation
In celebration of the Archdiocesan Priority and the Jubilee Year, the Stewardship & Prayer Committee has organized Nine Eucharistic Processions around the church property, occurring on the first Saturday of each month. This year, the Archdiocesan priority is Worship. The committee has planned these processions to foster greater engagement in this initiative. We appreciate your full cooperation and support in making this a meaningful experience.
Archdiocesan Pastoral Priorities
Worship, Witness, and Service – these are the foundational pillars for our diocese, as identified by Archbishop Richard Smith in his pastoral letter Living in the Word.
1. Formation for Eucharistic Worship – Helping people know and understand the Liturgy according to the mind of the Church and better enter into it.
2. Formation for Confident Witness – Helping people grow in prayer and in their relationship with God and each other.
3. Formation for Service to Marriage and Family – Helping families return to the Church and grow in their practice of the Faith.
The first Eucharistic Procession will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025 after the 5:00 PM Mass.

9420 – 163 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5R 0A7
Prayer after Communion (Concluding Rites is omitted): After the Communion Prayer (said after distribution of Holy Communion), the priest will go to the tabernacle to bring the Blessed Sacrament.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament (Choir): The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed (in the monstrance). Once Father places the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance, the Choir can begin singing O saving Victim (CBW 689 - two verses).
Commencement of procession: Upon the direction of Father, the Crossbearer will start to process out of the church followed by parishioners seated in the first row pews across all aisles (4 pews), then parishioners seated in the second, third and so on.
Altar Servers, Priest to join in: After the parishioners from the last pew have joined the procession, The Candle bearers, Thurifers and boat-bearer, and priest carrying the monstrance will follow.
The Choir: The Choir will follow after the priest. Choir can sing a Marian hymn (Immaculate Mary, etc.). There might be the recitation of the Holy Rosary during the procession and so a hymn can be sung after each decade (presumably).
Return into the church: Upon returning to the church, the Crossbearer will proceed to the altar while parishioners will go back to their respective places and remain kneeling.
Altar Servers, Priest: The Altar Servers and priest will proceed towards the altar. The priest carrying the monstrance will place it on the altar.
The Choir: The Choir will proceed to the choir area.
BENEDICTION (Choir to sing): Father will gesture/nod to the Choir indicating to start singing Down in adoration (CBW 68 - two verses, same tune as Pange lingua, gloriosi)
The Divine Praises: The priest will recite the Divine Praises (Blessed be God, Blessed be His Holy Name...)
Concluding Rites: Solemn Eucharistic Benediction is given as the final blessing.
The Choir: Father will gesture/nod to the Choir indicating to start singing Holy God, We Praise Thy Name (CBW 555 - two verses).
Reposition: While the concluding hymn is being sung, the priest replaces the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle and genuflects. The altar servers and priest process back to the sacristy.

Sequence of Events
Based on the proper liturgical books, the following is a standard sequence of events for a Eucharistic Procession.
o The procession begins after Mass or after a lengthy period of public adoration. If the procession occurs after Mass, the Host to be carried in the procession should be consecrated at this Mass.
o After the Communion of the faithful, the monstrance is placed on the altar and the consecrated Host is placed in the monstrance.
o Those who have particular roles in the procession (those carrying the canopy, banners, biers, etc.; those leading groups of the faithful; altar servers; etc.) should be arranging themselves for the beginning of the procession insofar as that does not interfere with the conclusion of Mass.
o The celebrant says the Prayer after Communion but omits the Concluding Rites.
o Wearing a cope (or chasuble), the celebrant kneels before the altar and incenses the Blessed Sacrament.
o Putting on the humeral veil, the celebrant goes up to the altar, genuflects and takes the monstrance, holding it with hands covered by the veil.
o The procession forms with the crossbearer leading the Blessed Sacrament to the canopy. Be prepared to wait as groups gather in the appropriate order.
o Processing along the planned route, the choir leads the faithful in songs and prayers worshiping Christ in the Eucharist and expressing faith in the Real Presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
o If stations have been set up, the procession stops at each one along the route. Placing the monstrance on the altar, the celebrant kneels before the Blessed Sacrament and leads the faithful in prayers, a reading from the Gospels, and/or a brief period of silent adoration. Then, Eucharistic Benediction is given before the procession continues. Benediction at the station altars is not “Solemn Benediction” and the typical prayers at Benediction are omitted.
o At the end of the procession, Solemn Eucharistic Benediction is given as the final blessing. After Benediction, the Blessed Sacrament is removed from the monstrance and placed in the tabernacle.

Blessed Trinity of Love...
we ask your blessing and protection over LIAM, as he enters the home stretch of his journey into full communion with your Holy Catholic Church. May the seeds you have sown in this journey of faith continue to bear fruit throughout his life, especially through Scripture and the Sacraments. Please send Your holy angels to guide him, that he may always grow in faith, hope, and charity through love of God and neighbour.
We ask these prayers through the intercession of Our Lady of the Annunciation. Amen.
Parishioners, please pray this prayer daily for our RCIA catechumen who is being baptized and confirmed at Easter. Then sign the back, include a personal message (should you wish), and return it on Palm Sunday.
In the context of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), a catechumen is an unbaptized person preparing for baptism, while a candidate is a baptized Christian seeking full communion within the Catholic Church.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Catechumen:
An unbaptized person who is receiving instruction in the principles of the Christian religion with the goal of being baptized.
The term "catechumen" comes from Greek, meaning "one in whom word echoes".
They are preparing for full initiation at the Easter Vigil.
Candidate:
A baptized Christian (in another Christian denomination) who is seeking to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.
They usually have a basic understanding of the Christian faith and are learning the specifics of the Catholic Church.
They are also referred to as "candidates for full communion".
RCIA:
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process by which unbaptized adults and baptized Christians who are not yet Catholic become full members of the Catholic Church.
Both catechumens and candidates participate in the RCIA program.
The program involves a period of instruction, formation, and spiritual growth, culminating in the celebration of the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil.
Key Terms:
Catechumenate: The period of time and the structure within which the catechumens prepare for initiation.
Mystagogy: The 50 days from Easter to Pentecost, a time for deepening understanding of the sacraments and living out the faith.
Elect: Catechumens who have been chosen to receive the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil.
In summary:
Catechumens are individuals who are not baptized and who are probably learning for the first time many of the elements of the Christian faith. Candidates, on the other hand, are those who are already Christians by baptism and are seeking to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.
The Parish Communications Committee supports the St Louise Parish mission by helping the entire parish share information that enriches our sense of community. We achieve this purpose by:
Directly creating and managing select parish communications vehicles: the core parish website, parish newsletter, and weekly bulletin.
Providing consistent, easy to use communications tools and resources available to all ministries in the parish. For example, website publishing process, brand guidance, writing and editing assistance, and online policies.
Working with the parish leadership to define our broad messaging themes and publishing an editorial calendar with those themes attached to the church calendar.
Building bridges between the many ministries in our parish.
Providing an expert resource pool to assist other ministries in handling their communications needs.

Annunciation Catholic Church has many ministries and activities to help you become involved in our parish community. Please contact the parish office if you would like more information about any of our Ministries:
This ministry is a very important part of our liturgies as it is meant for service at the altar by assisting the priest and deacon. The Altar Server includes carrying the incense , the processional Cross and the candles during the procession, holding the Roman Missal for the priest when needed and preparing the Altar during the Offertory. Boys and girls from Grade IV and up serve the Church with their dedication and participation in our liturgies. Being an altar server enhances the spiritual growth of the your involved, provides interaction, and helps develop self-confidence.
Cross Bearers - The Cross Bearer leads the procession with the Cross or Easter Candle, and hold the Sacramental and Lectionary for the celebrant. This is an apt ministry for teenagers or adults.
The readings and homily often cannot be grasped by young parishioners. Children aged three years to Grade VI are invited during the 11 am Mass, every other week, to celebrate God's Word at their level of understanding in Room 1.
The Children's Liturgy is presented throughout the school year with easy-to-follow lesson plans. This ministry welcomes volunteer leaders interested in sharing their faith and enriching the lives of the children in our parish.
Each week our counting teams rotate and count the money received through parishioner's donations , and prepare the deposits for the bank. In confirming the amount the donation with the amount recorded on the envelope, they ensure that each parishioner is given accurate credit. The amounts are recorded by the Business Manager into Church Watch so as each parishioner will be given an official taxable receipt at year end. Church Watch is the current software of choice, and what this does it records the parishioners donation and where they would like the donation to go to.
Preauthorized Donations (PAD) allow you to set up electronic withdrawals of donations while still giving you the option of where the donation goes. When you wish to stop this arrangement we will stop it upon your request. Should you wish to donate using this method please see the Business Office to set you up or visit the Donate page.
This ministry assists to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to the faithful. They are Extraordinary Ministers as the Ordinary Ministers of holy Communion is a Bishop, a Priest or a Deacon. Training is required to become an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.
Ministers of Hospitality welcome and greet people as they arrive for Mass, as they would welcome friends to their homes. Both visitors and regular members of our congregation alike are made to feel welcome and their presence valued.
These ministers also:
Seat Parishioners as the need arise
Organize the collection after the homily
Assign or assist a family tto take the gifts to altar (a member of hospitality takes the collection)
Direct parishioners to the communion ministers and give priority to those requiring assistance
After Mass, hand out Bulletins. tidy the church and take food donations to the Food Pantry (organized by SSVP)
Being a lector at Annunciation Parish is one of the few ways that you can meaningfully participate in your parish without dedicating an abundance of your time. Lectors are asked to proclaim the Word about once every six weeks, depending on the Mass.
A "Lector's Kit" is given to you upon volunteering. This kit contains information that you will need to confidentiality proclaim the Word. New lectors are most welcome.
Linen Keepers - Coordinator - Carol Reimer
The linens used in the Eucharist celebrations are washed and ironed by volunteers.
Music Ministry - Coordinator Bobet Pecson
Annunciation Parish is privileged to enjoy the participation of five choirs, and their music enhances our celebrations. There is always room for anyone who wants to become a member of any or our choirs, or would like to accompany with an instrument.
Visitors Ministry - Coordinator Julia Sax
Members of the Visitors Ministry provide home visitations for the sick in our Parish, and provide support for caregivers. They also provide Holy Communion to the Catholic patients at the Misericordia Hospital, and numerous other nursing homes and extended care facilities within our Parish. This ministry brings communion to those that are sick or infirm. This Ministry provides the sick or home bound parishioners opportunities to stay connected with the Parish.

Words By Fred Pratt Green
O Christ, the healer, we have come
to pray for health, to plead for friends.
How can we fail to be restored
when reached by love that never ends?
From every ailment flesh endures
our bodies clamor to be freed;
yet in our hearts we would confess
that wholeness is our deepest need.
How strong, O Lord, are our desires,
how weak our knowledge of ourselves!
Release in us those healing truths
unconscious pride resists or shelves.
In conflicts that destroy our health
we recognize the world's disease;
our common life declares our ills.
Is there no cure, O Christ, for these?
Grant that we all, made one in faith,
in your community may find
the wholeness that, enriching us,
shall reach the whole of humankind.

Let Us Go to the Altar - Dan Schutte
Refrain:
Let us go to the altar of God,
the God of our gladness and joy!
Let us enter the courts of the house of the Lord
and sing to the glory of God.
1 Give praise with blast of trumpet,
with noble sound of the horn.
With the clash of the clanging cymbal,
give glory to the Lord! [Refrain]
2 Give praise with lyre and timbrel,
with lute and sound of the harp.
With the dance of the flute and oboe,
give glory to the Lord! [Refrain]
3 Give praise with pipe and organ,
with rousing beat of the drum.
With the call of the bell and bagpipe,
give glory to the Lord! [Refrain]
4 Give praise, all creatures of heaven,
and all that dwell on the earth.
Come to worship the God who made us,
and dance before the Lord! [Refrain]
The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
Healer of Our Every Ill
Refrain:
Healer of our every ill,
light of each tomorrow,
give us peace beyond our fear,
and hope beyond our sorrow.
1 You who know our fears and sadness,
grace us with your peace and gladness;
Spirit of all comfort, fill our hearts. [Refrain]
2 In the pain and joy beholding
how your grace is still unfolding,
give us all your vision, God of love. [Refrain]
3 Give us strength to love each other,
every sister, every brother;
Spirit of all kindness, be our guide. [Refrain]
4 You who know each thought and feeling,
teach us all your way of healing;
Spirit of compassion, fill each heart. [Refrain]
Bread of Life - Bobby Fisher
1. Bread of Life and cup of hope, we come as gift to you. Change our hearts; fill us with
peace. Transform our lives anew. Open our eyes so that we may see your presence in one another. Your
life, poured out in love today, unites us all in you.
2. Loving Lord, Creator God, open our eyes to see the good that lives in each of us, that called the world to
be. And when we fail to see the good, when friendships falter and crumble, give us the courage to forgive
that we may live in peace.
3. Living Word, O Son of God, your love shows us the way, that we may live in harmony, and from you never
stray. Wipe all oppression from our midst; give us a love for all people. Your song of justice sing in us, to
live for peace today. (Copyright c 1994, Bobby Fisher and OCP)
O Lord I Am Not Worthy by Robert Kochis
O Lord, I am not worthy
That Thou should'st come to me,
But speak the words of comfort,
My spirit healed shall be.
And humbly I receive Thee,
the bridegroom of my soul,
No more my sin to grieve Thee,
nor fly Thy sweet control.
O Eternal Holy Spirit,
Unworthy tho' I be,
Prepare me to receive Him,
And trust the Word to me.
Increase my faith, dear Jesus,
in Thy Real Presence here;
and make me feel most deeply
that Thou to me art near.
O Sacrament most holy,
O Sacrament divine!
All praise and all thanksgiving
Be ev'ry moment Thine.
Let Heaven Rejoice

Do keep us near to Thee;

O Heart of Love Divine!
Listen to our prayer:
Make us always Thine.
O Temple pure! O House of gold!
Our Heaven here below!
What sweet delights, what wealth untold,
From Thee do ever flow!
Heart of Jesus, hear!
O Heart of Love Divine!
Listen to our prayer:
Make us always Thine.
O wounded Heart! O Font of tears!
O Throne of grief and pain,
Whereon, for the eternal years,
Thy love for man doth reign!
Heart of Jesus, hear!
O Heart of Love Divine!
Listen to our prayer:
Make us always Thine.
Ungrateful hearts, forgetful hearts,
The hearts of men have been,
To wound Thy side with cruel darts
Which they have made by sin.
Heart of Jesus, hear!
O Heart of Love Divine!
Listen to our prayer:
Make us always Thine.

Jesus, the Very Thought of You JS 474
1 Jesus, the very thought of you
fills us with sweet delight;
but sweeter far your face to view
and rest within your light.
2 No voice can sing, no heart can frame,
nor can the mind recall
A sweeter sound than your blest name,
O Saviour of us all!
3 O Hope of ev'ry humble soul,
O Joy of all the meek,
How kind you are to those who fall!
How good to those who seek!
4 O Jesus, be our joy today;
Help us to prize your love;
Grant us at last to hear you say:
""Come, share my home above.""

Heart of Christ, we sing Thy praises Stuttgart tune (Come Thou Long-Expected Jesus). Words are:
Heart of Christ, we sing thy praises,
Well-spring of eternal life!
Through the sorrows of thy passion,
We find refuge from our strife.
Heart of Christ, thou dost embody
All the wonder of God's love!
Thou dost tell the tender mercies
Showered from our God above!
Heart of Christ, who bringest healing,
To the lowly and the weak!
Let us know thy loving-kindness;
Show thyself to all who seek!
1. By all your saints still striving, For all your saints at rest, Your holy Name, O Jesus, Forevermore be blessed. You rose, our King victorious, That they might wear the crown And ever shine in splendour Reflected from your throne.
