Christ Baptist Church was founded on May 13, 2016, by Pastor Astin S. Ward, who, just days after receiving the divine vision to start a church, invited Pastor Charvey Persaud Jr. to join him in laying the foundation as Executive Pastor. What began as a bold idea has since grown into a faithful, justice-driven ministry committed to glorifying God and standing unapologetically for what’s right.

In the early days, we explored a few different names—First Baptist Church of Fairhaven and Christ Missionary Baptist Church among them—but through prayer, clarity, and conviction, we ultimately embraced the name Christ Baptist Church. It was more than just a title—it was a statement. Christ at the center. Period.

Over the years, we've welcomed members, developed a dedicated staff, and built a church culture that is serious about worship, intentional about justice, and grounded in biblical truth. We're not just here to "do church"—we're here to be the church: in the streets, in the struggle, and in the Spirit.
