Andrew Yearsley from Christchurch leads our Auckland Combined Ecclesial Weekend in August 2021 on 4 part series on King Ahab.
"King Ahab is known for all the wrong reasons; a wicked king of the northern ten tribes, one who "sold himself to work wickedness", married to evil personified - Jezebel. We clearly see in his life the disastrous consequences of not taking a stand, allowing events and people to wash over him. Yet despite this, God worked with Ahab trying to germinate a seed of faith to bring forth fruit - surely He can work with us in the same way too.
We tend to consign Ahab to the dungeons as the most wicked king in Israel - and rightly so. But it may be useful for us to release him in our minds and consider him; not as some warped, psychopath bent on doing wickedness, but as a man just as each one of us. One who knew what was right... but was swayed and influenced by those around him, and constrained and compromised by decisions he had taken in his life."
