Chris' Position - Maintain the small town feel while growing city services. Only expand Barker Park Amphitheater based on a multi-year plan showing what revenue will offset costs. New parks in main city area need to have a very specific plan to ensure costs are controlled. Implement a yearly review of property tax rates (current and future) at a city council meeting to keep citizens informed on future tax rates. Try to simplify the city budget into basic terms to transfer the needed information to keep people informed and keep 100% transparency.
Chris's Position - Maintain city zoning and long term planning as it is key to avoid losing long term gain to get a short term fix. Land ownership is important and citizens have a legal and legitimate right to develop their land to their liking, but that has to be balanced by state/county/city rules. Parks and trail access are key as the northern part of the city is developed. Pocket parks and benches on trails/sidewalks are something that should be considered as well. Higher density housing needs to be limited as North Ogden has met its current state requirements.
Chris' Position - North Ogden needs more cell towers to cover the growing need. Cell coverage is vital as people are moving away from home phone lines and using cell phones in their daily lives.
Chris' Position - City ordnances are a needed part of life, but when excessive, they can lead to lack of enforcement. Many current city ordinance violations go unenforced, which sometimes leads to conflict between neighbors. The city needs to address this through review of city code and/or increasing enforcement.
