Sonification is the conversion of data to sound. Challenging the idea that we should solely use visualisations to represent data, sonification explore using sound. I am working with multi-disciplinary teams across the world to apply sonification for exploring large/complex datasets and for communication of data. Whilst my work started with a focuss on astronomical data (due to my astrophysics background), I am diversifying my sonification research into other domains. These pages introduce my sonification research, but sonification also contributes heavily to my accessible engagement work.
In these pages you can find out more about my work in:
Developing the STRAUSS Python Sonification Package and Audio Universe Project.
Developing sonification for different applications as part of interdisciplinary teams.
In the video below I present an introduction to sonification for the sciences, which was put together as part of our Sonic Intangibles Project.
