Die Another Day

Some of the goofy tech has caught up (Augmented Reality, invisible car) to the times, and it is at least full of cheesy Bond action. John Cleese is humorous in his final turn as Q (R?). Brosnan’s torture scene with Madonna’s terrible (arguably the worst) Bond theme song over it degrades the intensity of seeing Bond tortured and left for dead, which could have been a dark plot point in an otherwise Super-hero Bond role, as Brosnan’s Bond had become. Halle Berry actually ruins this one for me, with her “your mama” comeback while being tortured, and general bad acting. Cut her out or replace her with another Bond girl, and this could have ranked higher for me, in general entertainment value if nothing else. Perhaps, the North Koreans were playing the “Die Another Day” Madonna theme song as part of James Bond’s torture in the title sequence.
