The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is responsible for enforcing traffic laws, investigating accidents, and responding to emergencies on highways and other state-owned roadways. As a member within the CHP, you may serve as a trooper or other law enforcement personnel, In addition to enforcing traffic laws, LEOs within CHP may also be responsible for responding to emergencies such as vehicle accidents, natural disasters, and other crises that may occur on the highways. They may work with other emergency services personnel such as firefighters and paramedics to assist those in need.
