Chilterns Weekend Walkers
Lead a walk
Please give something back to the group by leading a walk or organising a social. Here's how to get it on the CWW calendar.
Check the calendar to find a suitable date and time, noting what else is happening on adjacent dates.
Download a Lead a walk form here. Click on the File menu and select Download. Then go to your Download file to find it. If you have any problems, please email lead_a_walk@chilternsww.co.uk
Email your completed form to lead_a_walk@chilternsww.co.uk If you need more time to finalise the details, send an email to reserve a slot so the basic details can be added to the calendar with 'Details to follow'. Mention the date, location, approximate distance and start time.
Read one of these generic risk assessments for your grade of walk: easy, leisurely / moderate, strenuous / technical. (To download a risk assessment, click on one of the preceding three links, choose File from the top left menu, then Download.) We no longer need to fill out a form and keep it for three years, but please make a personal note of any risks particular to your walk, and also make sure to read the section on red kites.
If you're leading a walk for the first time, you'll need to complete the new Ramblers online training.
Dip into our exclusive walks library
Leading a walk for CWW has never been easier! We've assembled a library of some of our leaders' routes, complete with a map, description and a gpx file to download. If you want to lead one, just quote the walk reference number. All the details can be added to the calendar for you, but you'll still need to do a recce and read the risk assessment.
For help with working out a new route, have a look at this walk plotter on the Ramblers Bucks Area website.
Lead a trip
If you've already led several walks and particularly like or know another area, have you considered organising a trip away? To get started, please download our trip guidelines.
