For each graded item, you will receive points. Your accumulated points earned during the course will determine your grade. Points are given for assignments, quizzes, unit tests, discussion, and other items. Your total points will determine your final grade. Each graded item has a rubric that will tell you how to earn points. To be successful in earning the maximum points, make sure you read all instructions, review your work for errors, and pay attention to due dates.
Grades can be stressful. I have attempted to design the course so that one bad assignment, quiz, discussion, etc. will not have a negative impact on your grade. I want you to succeed in this course and will do everything to help you be successful. It is important that you pay attention to deadlines. I suggest reading the syllabus and course schedule carefully and write out when items are due.
I will use the rubric associated with the graded item and give feedback and comments to help you understand areas of concern. I do my best to grade assignments immediately so that you can get feedback on all of your hard work. However, some weeks, I have many students turning in work at the same time. It is always my goal to post your grades within 7-14 days.
Because technology and life can cause problems, I encourage you to start early and complete discussions, assignments, and other graded items well before the due date. Read all instructions carefully. Make sure you email me early in the process if you have questions or you can visit me during my office hours. Proofread your written work. If you are unsure, have someone else read it in advance.

Detailed information on assignments and discussions provided in Canvas Course
Late assignments (discussions, graded assignments, etc.) are discouraged. However, life happens and circumstances are sometimes beyond our control. Because of this, each student will be allowed one Late Pass to be used for one assignment. That means you can turn in one assignment late, no questions asked, no points lost. However, there are rules and they are:
You must contact me 24 hours before the assignment is due and let me know you are using your Late Pass.
This pass can only be used for an assignment (does not include Final Project), discussions, and tests (does not include Orientation/Syllabus quiz or Final Exam).
The late assignment is due one week after the original due date. Late assignments posted after that one week date will not receive points.
Approved late assignments will take longer to grade and may not be graded until the last week of the course.
You only can use this pass once. After the use of the Late Pass, no late assignments will be accepted.
I know that getting good grades can sometimes be stressful. To help reduce that stress and improve the likelihood of getting your best grades, allow yourself the time and space you need to do your best work. Don't procrastinate, and if you get stuck on an assignment, reach out to me or one of your peers. I welcome your questions and I'm happy to help you think through your ideas so you can successfully complete an assignment. You know how to reach me, right?
All assignments, discussions. quizzes, tests, etc., are due by 11:59pm on the due date.
