Please do not go out and buy anything! Simply use items you find in your house and get playing! Here are some ideas...
The drums that you can hit with sticks
Something you can use to shake! You can fill up a bottle with something small, or even use something like a box of rice!
Something you can scrape something else against, such as a water bottle and scraping a pencil along the side of it!
Complete a flipgrid here: https://flipgrid.com/aa0405e1, or click the picture to the left, sharing your bucket drumming skills! Perform either a rhythm you created, or play along to a song, like "Can't Stop The Feeling" below.
Watch this video and play along with some sticks, pencils, or anything you can find in the house!
This week, we'll learn some bucket drumming!
See the video next to this to see an example.
Bucket drumming is a fun way to play drums without being too loud for others, and it's a great way to play along with songs!
We'll learn different ways to perform and even create your own rhythms, and maybe you'll be able to create your own bucket drumming song to a song you love!
Play along with sticks, pencils, or whatever you can find around the house!
Check out this game using drums!
Sergei was the composer or creator of "Peter and the Wolf".
He was born in 1891 in the Ukraine.
His mother taught him to play piano as she was a very good piano player as well.
Sergei began composing at the age of 5.
He traveled around Europe after graduating from school to learn more about music.
He was a master of using music to tell a story.
One of his most famous stories is "Peter and the Wolf".
It was performed and written for Russia's Central Children's Theatre.
Below, you can read the whole story of "Peter and the Wolf"!
You can read through the story below, or there's also a video of it you can watch as well!
While reading or watching through the story, write down all the characters you hear about or see.
What do you think each character's theme might sound like? Think about it and try writing some down.
Below, you can hear some of the character's themes. What do they sound like to you?

After the video, find something in your house you can use as a drum and practice hitting it with your hand or something like a drumstick, pencil, pen, etc.
Try the video again but using your new instrument, and practice by yourself by playing and saying "Beet" or "Cherry" out loud!
Before watching this second video, find another object to use as a drum/instrument around your house! Practice for a few minutes on each one of your instruments and listen to how they sound.
Watch the second video, Sweet Beets 2, and follow along using your instrument.
Practice each word and how to play it by yourself, after the video is over! Remember, our words are "Beet, "Cherry", "Avocado", and "Shh"!
"Beet" is 1 sound, "Cherry" is 2 sounds, "Avocado" is 4 sounds, and "Shh" is no sound at all.
Have you every heard of this guy before? NO?! He is only one of the greatest composers of all time!!! To find out more, follow these steps (you can do as many as you like!):

Check out some of Mozart's most famous pieces of music:
Mozart's Variations on "Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDMvvelPXj0
In this piece, Mozart takes "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and shows the many ways he can change the melody!
Eine kleine Nachtmusik (Trust me - you'll know this one!). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5CYkjVxgP4
"Der Holle Rache" from The Magic Flute (Yes, this woman is really singing this, and yes, the Queen of the Night - the character she is playing - is evil!!!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG1fs13rlZY

Make a Mozart flipbook (if you have not done this before in class, you will find instructions on how to complete it)
Color a picture of Mozart
Try playing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" on the piano or xylophone (if you have one at home)
You will find music with the notes marked in. You will also find a picture that shows you where to find the notes on the piano.
See if you can change the melody like Mozart did. If you make something you want to share, post it on Flipgrid!
