This is "I Will LEAD" with the DARE lyrics
Please do not go out and buy anything! Simply use items you find in your house and get playing! Here are some ideas...
The drums that you can hit with sticks
Something you can use to shake! You can fill up a bottle with something small, or even use something like a box of rice!
Something you can scrape something else against, such as a water bottle and scraping a pencil along the side of it!
Complete a flipgrid here: https://flipgrid.com/f00c7088, or click the picture to the left, sharing your bucket drumming skills! Perform either a rhythm you created, or play along to a song, like "Can't Stop The Feeling" below.
This week, we'll learn some bucket drumming!
See the video next to this to see an example.
Bucket drumming is a fun way to play drums without being too loud for others, and it's a great way to play along with songs!
We'll learn different ways to perform and even create your own rhythms, and maybe you'll be able to create your own bucket drumming song to a song you love!
Here's another awesome video of some drumming, too!
Walk Off The Earth - Cheerleader using classroom instruments
Kalani - Let's All Play Our Drums game
Drum Talk game
Locomotor Engine/Down The Track/Engine Number Nine rhythm song

See how the parts all come together to create an awesome song!
The art of "Foley" is people who create sound effects and music to films!
Watch the video here to see them in action.
Check out this game that uses drums!
You can print this out or draw it on a blank sheet of paper.
You can create your own rhythm using a combination of quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests, as seen to the left and below.
Each of these notes counts as ONE beat.
You need 4 notes per COLUMN, for each measure or section (which is shown by the lines going up and down along the longer lines going left to right) but can mix up which part of the drum to play on.
For example: You could put 2 notes in the first column next to "rim", then 2 notes next to "top", and you would play it reading left to right.
Examples of what yours could look like are below. Don't copy these exactly but make up your own!
This picture shows hand signs and syllables for something called Solfege!
We will use these hand signs and syllables to help us create in Songmaker, so make sure you practice and know them!
Solfege helps with not only creating and playing music, but also in singing and in communicating with other musicians!
You can always come back here to look at the picture if you forget.
You can click the picture to the left to access Songmaker and begin using it!
Below, you can see how solfege is represented by each square/color and where they are in the grid.
As the notes go up or down, you'll see how they repeat themselves after going halfway up or down the page.
Try going through each color and syllable and try the hand signs out for each one!
Next, try copying the song below yourself and see if you know what it is when you play it back!
Come up with or create your own song by first creating a melody that you like in the top half of Songmaker!
Then, let's add something called "Harmony". Harmony can be added by putting the same colors/notes in the same spots in the lower half of Songmaker.
You can also add drums at the very bottom of Songmaker.

Check out the songs below!
You can find the website here: www.incredibox.com
Go to www.incredibox.com.
Click on "Try Web Version".
Disable ad blocker if it asks you to. (you might not have to do this step)
Select a version to use. Different versions are different styles of music so try them all out! Some will be locked for you, so try the ones you can.
Once it loads, click the Play button.
Now you can start making music! Drag the different sounds from the bottom onto the seven beatboxers or singers and listen to what each sound is. It will change their clothes as well. It will also continuously loop your song, meaning it will continually play and repeat itself.
The play/pause button at the top right can play/pause the music.
Putting your mouse over active beatboxers will reveal icons for muting, soloing, and canceling that sound.
The three lines icon at the top left will allow you to reset, record, or go back to the home screen to try another version.
For each version, there are circle icons in the middle above the beatboxers. Clicking those will reveal what combinations of sounds will give you a bonus song and music video.
For each day, experiment with different versions and find out which one is your favorite one that you would want to use to make your own song and record to submit.
Clicking the record button will record anything you do. You can mute certain beatboxers and bring them back in later, or slowly add new ones in as the song goes on. Try experimenting with recording and what you can do!
Record a final mix/song to be submitted, at least a minute long. Look at the checklist below these instructions to know what is required!
After recording it, click Save, then type in your name, the title of the song, and a dedication if you want.
Next, click the Share button, then the Mix Link button. Make sure not to close the window yet or you'll lose your mix!
Copy the mix link by either highlighting/clicking the link and pressing Ctrl+C, Command+C, or ⌘+C at the same time, depending on your computer. You can also right-click it and click the word Copy.
Paste the mix link at the bottom of the exit ticket by clicking inside the box and pressing either Ctrl+V, Command+V, or ⌘+V. You can also right click inside the box and press Paste.
Submit your final mix link in the exit form under the question about what you learned
You can click the picture to the left to access Songmaker and begin using it!
After clicking the picture to the left, you can start adding your own notes above the notes already placed there.
Create a "melody" by adding notes above the middle line and make something that sounds catchy!
Then, add Harmony, which is when 2 or more notes/instruments play at the same time. See what it sounds like when you add notes above them in the example.
You can also add Drums to the very bottom in Song Maker, to keep a beat with the song. A basic one is also included in the example.
Submit an exit ticket with the example you made!
Students will be completing the Daily Music Journal pictured to the left while they're at home Remote Learning this week. You will listen to TWO songs per day that you're working from home.
You will receive the worksheet when you come into school, if you're home Monday and Tuesday you can use a blank sheet of paper until you receive the worksheet.
For each box, you will listen to the song listed and write and/or draw what you feel and hear in the music. You can write about how it makes you feel, or what kind of sounds you hear, or both!
After listening and writing it down, you will rate the song from 1-5 stars by coloring them in at the bottom or drawing stars if you're using a blank sheet of paper. 1 star means you didn't like it that much, and 5 stars means you really liked it!
Below this, you'll find the links to the songs that you can click on, and the form you will fill out after you're done.. You do not need to go below that line below the links unless you're finishing up last weeks work as well.
On Friday, you'll listen to John Williams as well as pick a song yourself for the last box. You can choose any song you want, it doesn't have to be classical music!
Lastly, you'll fill out an exit ticket/form on Friday so I know you've completed it and share a little bit of what songs you liked or didn't like and why.
