Geek Week is an annual week-long event held at UWM designed to celebrate and explore the diverse interests that make up UWM's vibrant geek culture. Each day, various activities are run and the Chess Club at UWM was granted a bid to run the Geek Week Open chess tournament. This is a low-stakes chess tournament designed to allow players the chance to try US Chess Federation rated chess with no pressure of prizes.
In 2025, a five-round Open tournament was held, followed by a seven-round Blitz tournament. The Geek Week Open & Blitz do not award prizes but the following players deserve recognition for strong performances.
