MY RESEARCH PATH
I grew to love the ocean and coastal dynamics when I was growing up in northern California. After studying Marine Biology and Chemistry as an undergrad I did a thesis on coral reef response during sea level rise in the Caribbean and geology captivated me. Encorporating information from all different types of science and recording them in the geologic record fascinates me. I continued working in modern coastal systems to understand sediment formation and early alteration during my PhD. My postdoc research expanded my toolkit to include experiments to help constrain those dynamics and their affect on sediments and rocks. Today my research ranges from modern sediment formation to the Devonian, trying to understand how carbonates record environmental information, and see how we can interpret that information in the rock record.
