COASTAL SEDIMENTOLOGY LAB
Our lab currently has 3 wonderful graduate students (see below) and 1 equally awesome undergraduate research assistant. Our work focuses on better understanding coastal and marine environments, the sediments produced, transported, and buried. Our main research focuses include: 1) modern carbonate deposition and early burial, 2) experimental alteration of carbonates, 3) characterizing seafloor sediments using geochemical and machine learning techniques, and 4) how environmental information is translated to the rock record.

LAB OUTREACH
LAB OUTREACH
Our lab works in various formats to provide service and support to the community to enhance awareness of issues and current research in the realms of Sedimentology and Coastal Geology. A major partner is GenSea, who engages students and teachers in STEM Education to careers and research in the Blue Economy. Through GenSea we've provided internship opportunities and educational field trips. Other outreach events include volunteer work with SedsOnline, who brings Sedimentology who provides an interactive and accessible online platform for anyone with an interest in the field of Sedimentology. Community engagement events geared towards environmental awareness including beach cleanups are also at the forefront.
