General Directions: Energy storage/routing/management and power conversion, high-frequency wireless power transfer (WPT) such as at 6.78 and 13.56 MHz, and emerging applications in electronic devices, mobile robots, electric vehicles, microgrids and smart grids, and more. Current major interests include
Design, control and implementation of high-frequency power electronic devices, especially for WPT and energy routing;
Coordination and management of distributed energy networks from the perspective of new hardware architectures and intelligent algorithms.
Ongoing Research:
Three-dimensional magnetic field shaping by modular planar or curved-surface transmitting coil arrays;
High-spatial-freedom and high-efficiency WPT for medical implants, drones, mobile robots, etc;
All-in-one multi-port multi-function energy routers or hubs, e.g. for power combining and/or routing;
Cloud-local joint management architecture of microgrids and smartgrids with dual redundancy;
User behavior-based large-scale charging coordination (e.g. EV fleet) and demand-side management.
