University of Washington
I am currently completing my 3rd year at University of Washington, Seattle. I am pursuing a Bachelors in Science in Marine Biology as well as a minor in Dance. Through my experience at University of Washington, I have gained independence, research experience, community, and a passion for science through rigorous classes focused on laboratory and field work experience.
Leadership and Involvement
During summer 2025, I had the opportunity to make a takeover of the University of Washington Marine Biology Instagram to highlight student work in marine science outside of school. I filmed a day-in-my-life story collection and created an official post of my experience interning at New England Aquarium within the Yawkey Coral Reef Gallery. Through this I was able to share my experience and knowledge of working with an incredible institution as well as answer students' questions about getting involved with marine science work outside University of Washington. It was a great opportunity to connect with my Marine Biology community and develop skills in social media.
I also have a pending leadership role starting fall 2026 with Sea Dawgs, a marine biology student run club at University of Washington. I will be the social media manager for this organization and I cannot be more excited to draw on my past media experience and continue the amazing community and educational work Sea Dawgs does.

Friday Harbor Laboratories
University of Washington
Photos from field work at Friday Harbor Labs during spring 2026.
I was able to spend my spring 2026 quarter studying at Friday Harbor Laboratories, University of Washington's marine biology research facility located on San Juan Island, WA. It was an immersive quarter filled with field work, experiments, research, and cooperation. From this experience I gained a passion for marine mammals, in depth knowledge of the ecosystems within the Salish Sea, and the work ethic it takes to complete a research intensive quarter.
Some completed projects include a shoreline comparison research paper, a brochure about human impacts on harbor seals, an endangered species presentation on Northern sea otters, and outreach with the 3rd grade clam digging project.
Coastal Ocean Science Academy
Northeastern University
During my sophomore and junior year of high school, I attend a 1 week marine biology focused summer program with Northeastern University. This program was Coastal Ocean Science Academy , COSA for short. It was located at Northeastern's Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts and gave high school students an inside look to what life as a marine biologist is like.
During my time with COSA, I began developing the crucial skills needed to succeed in the marine science field. This included research projects, in depth labs, field work, and group work. The projects that left the largest impact on me were the DNA extraction lab and using quadrats to analyze intertidal organism diversity which are both skills I have used in my college experience.
I have always had a passion for the ocean but learning about the behind the scenes of what being a marine biologist is like though COSA solidified my decision to pursue a marine science focused career.
