"Sex and Music"
in Elgar Encyclopedia of Sex and Society in press.
The discussion of music includes examining instrumental and lyrical products as well as themes, performance, and listener experience. Music is also used as a marker for culture with popular music and genre allowing insight into society of that era. Gender and sexuality in music are representative of societal expectations for the performers and audiences. Music demonstrates the cycle of backlash and progression of social ideals, such as gender and racial equality. This overview looks at the history of sex in Western music from the 11th century to modern times using themes of different genres with reference to youth culture.

An article reflects on the development of the Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) cult following by examining its inspirations from film genre classics and rock music, the beginning of the fanbase, and its lasting impact on youth subculture and LGBTQ+ people fifty years later.
"Trans Community in Tampa's Rock Scene"
in The Sapphic Sun
An article covering how Tampa's rock scene became a place for trans community building. "Transgender Punk Rebellion"
in Hankycode Magazine
An article about the overlaps of punk music and transness. Utilizing my experiences as a punk in Florida, I touch on themes of the genre, community, and current politics.
"The Rockstar Nosferatu"
in HJTV Presents!
An article discussing Nosferatu (1922) rereleases with rock different scores. It might seem like an odd pairing, especially for what is meant to be a silent film, but many people don’t know that so-called “silent” films were often not silent. These scored versions of Nosferatu are actually a return to form for silent film screenings.
