Third Annual Southeast Iron Butt Tour
This came from the brilliant mind of Jeff Noland, Road Captain and Vice President of the Great Smokies Indian Motorcycle Riders Group. For his groups, the ride is almost perfect with a round-trip of about 1,035 miles. It's boring.... same roads up and back... but we all go to Hell and back.
So, here's the plan. Groups that can plan the first half of the ride to Hell as about 515 to 545 miles can converge with everyone in Hell. I'm working with the restaurant there to allow us to pre-order and pay for food so we can swing in, eat, take fantastic photos of lots of bikes on the SEIBT, and get back on the road quickly.
Right now only groups from Toledo, North Canton, Columbus, Clarksville, Hopkinsville, Elizabethtown, Dulles, Cedar Rapids and Knoxville are participating because you have to be inside that limit. But if each of them have 20 or more bikes (Knoxville has had that each of the previous 2 years) it would be over 100 bikes on the way back!
All groups should have a contingency plan if the weather isn't cooperative. Rumor has it that occasionally it freezes over there.
