Third Annual Southeast Iron Butt Tour
The Southeast Iron Butt Tour is not an organization. It's not a company. It's not a charity. It's an event... sorta like Thanksgiving. It's a group of volunteers and donors, mostly motorcycle concentric, creating a tool to raise money for a given charity once a year. It provides an opportunity for riders from around the country to achieve the SS1000 Iron Butt Association certification. It celebrates riders from many locations coming together for charity, fun and accomplishment. No one gets paid from the proceeds as it is a strictly volunteer event. Yes, we pay companies for services needed and materials to operate. Over 50% of the rider fee goes back to the rider in the form of event bling and the IBA fees. We still manage to provide a lot of funds for the charity we are supporting. ALL BIKES ARE WELCOME as long as the bike and rider can complete the SS1000 ride safely.
This year's charity is Operation Homefront. It was selected by riders from last year and those that follow this event. Each year we look to our riders to choose a charity to support.
This year's destination city is Knoxville, TN on Handlebar Highway (US 25/Clinton Highway). Here's an overview of the event and thresholds leading up to it:
