One Union Voice

About 90% of teachers and staff are in a union - The highest take up of any profession. The fundamental issues are: They do not work together; They do not always voice the professions concerns; They have allowed this political interference to carry on to a large extent, regardless of the damage caused because they cannot give a singular cohesive answer to any reform...The NEU may say one thing whilst another, such as the NAHT says something else. This has led to division and confusion…the Government ploughs on and on and on.

Unions must join together to form one union, one voice if they cannot coordinate their messages and represent the profession with more clarity. This would create a powerful way to stop Government interference and alow the profession to work more 'hand in hand' with the DfE to do the best for staff and children. One voice giving a clear, coherent response to take education forward - working with Government to see the profession move forward with as little interference as possible. Leave teaching to teachers.
