John A. DeAntonio has been a resident of the New Kensington community for over 40 years. He and his wife, Gretchen who he's been married to for 48 years raised their three children in the community. Carrie, Janna, & Andrew DeAntonio, children of John & Gretchen are all graduates of the New Kensington-Arnold School District.
John DeAntonio graduated from Altoona High School in 1966. Immediately after high school, John attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Education. He started his teaching career in the Connellsville School District until he received an offer for a full time position in the Plum Borough School District, where he taught for 33 years until he retired in 2005. While teaching, John was very active with his students. He taught instrumental music and directed the high school marching band. Along with teaching, he also coached high school football, junior high school wrestling, junior high school track and field, as well as Tri-City Soccer. Education wasn't John's only task though. On top of teaching and coaching, he was also a proud business owner; operating DeAntonio's Lawn Care for 25 years.
John believes that the New Kensington-Arnold School District is unlike any other district. He believes that the diversity of our district provides students with opportunities that other students don't have. John believes that a strong student/teacher ratio is important for a more conducive and successful learning experience. He wants our district to be the centerpiece of our community by providing our teachers and staff with the tools and opportunities that our students need to achieve success.
John wants to create respectful relationships, positive interaction with our community, accountability, and transparency with our district's staff, students, and parents.
