Sydney graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2021 with a bachelor's in Biological Sciences. In the Chandra Lab, Sydney researches the pathogenesis of COPD and what specific genes present promising targets for therapy. She also helped establish our lab's mouse vaping model to understand growing questions concerning e-cigarettes. She previously worked in a lab studying influenza, using ferrets as a model organism.
Misaki is a second-year PhD student in the Epidemiology department at Pitt Public Health. Before moving to Pittsburgh, she earned a BS in Health Sciences and MPH in Epidemiology/Biostatistics with a concentration in Infectious Disease at Boston University. While there, she gained first-hand experience working on multiple observational studies that focused on tuberculosis, diabetes, and COVID-19. Her current doctoral research with the Chandra lab evaluates the protective effect of environmental lithium in improving emphysema and COPD outcomes among affected patients across the U.S.
Allison graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry and in 2019 with a Master of Science in Epidemiology. In the Chandra lab, she is studying the effects of vaping on the human immune system and novel metrics to quantify vaping exposure.
Nischay is a Master's student in the Artificial Intelligence Engineering - Biomedical Engineering (Research) program at Carnegie Mellon University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Biotechnology in 2019 and has previously worked on multi-omics and machine learning based analysis for pulmonary diseases as a Research Scientist. In the Chandra Lab, his current research involves computational analysis of high throughput proteomic data to identify biomarkers of therapeutic response and comorbidities in lung disease, with a focus on COPD and emphysema.
Andrew graduated from Point Park University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. He assists the Chandra Lab with animal exposure experiments.
