지도 철학

저희 연구실에서는 정기적으로 랩미팅과 랩세미나를 진행합니다. 랩미팅에서는 실험 계획을 논의하고 공유하며, 랩세미나에서는 연구 분야의 최신 논문을 발표하고 토론합니다. 또한 매주 월요일마다 연구원들은 주간 연구 진행 보고서(Weekly progress report)를 제출합니다. 이 보고서에서는 지난 한 주 동안의 연구 진행 상황(예: 논문 읽기, 논문 작성, 실험 계획)을 이메일을 통해 자율적으로 보고하고 검토받습니다.

저는 연구실 연구생들이 최대한 자율적으로 연구를 진행할 수 있도록 지원합니다. 이는 자발적인 연구 의욕과 의지로 연구를 주체적으로 주도할 역량이 중요하다고 믿기 때문입니다. 물론 실험 계획, 데이터 분석, 논문 피드백과 같이 도움이 필요할 때에는 최대한 상세하고 성실하게 조언을 제공합니다. 궁극적으로 연구원들이 연구실 생활을 통해 미래에 자기주도적인 생태학자(autonomous ecologists)로 성장할 수 있도록 지원하고 있습니다.

Advising Philosophy

In our lab, we hold lab meetings and seminars on regular basis. During lab meetings, we discuss and share research plans and schedules, while in lab seminars, a member presents a cutting-edge article in our field of study, followed by a group discussion. Additionally, every Monday, lab members submit a weekly progress report via email. In this report, members voluntarily share their recent research progress, including article reading, manuscript writing, and research planning.

I encourage lab members to pursue their research activities as autonomously as possible. I believe it is crucial to develop personal strength and the ability to lead research independently under supervision. Of course, whenever lab members require assistance such as data analysis, manuscript writing feedback, or research planning, I am always available to provide detailed and sincere advice. Ultimately, I support lab members in becoming autonomous ecologists through their lab experiences.

연구실 연구분위기

우리 연구실은 상호 존중을 바탕으로 한 협력적 연구 공동체입니다. 어려움이나 고비가 있을 때마다 서로 돕고 의지하며 따뜻한 공동체를 만들기 위해 노력하고 있습니다. 지도 교수와 학생 사이의 관계에 대해서는 다음 학생의 증언을 참고하시기 바랍니다. 

• 교수님께서 항상 친절하게 인사를 받아주시며, 편안한 대화를 나누기 위해 노력합니다. 

• 교수-학생 간 피드백은 양방향으로 이루어지며, 세대 간 차이를 인정합니다. 

• 학생을 방치하거나 지나치게 간섭하지 않고, 문제점에 대해 함께 조율해 나갑니다. 

• 학생이 필요로 하거나 찾기 어려운 지식과 자료를 지원하고 공유합니다. 

• 교수님의 연구 과정과 연구 노하우를 배울 수 있으며, 제시된 과제를 수행함으로써 개인의 역량을 발전시킬 수 있습니다. 

Lab research atmosphere

Our lab is a research-oriented cooperative community based on mutual respect. Whenever challenges arise, we help and support each other, striving to create a warm and supportive environment. Regarding the relationship between a supervisor and students, please refer to the following testimony from a previous student mentee: 

• A supervisor always warmly accepts greetings and tries to create comfortable conversations. 

• Feedback between students and supervisors is bidirectional, and generational differences are acknowledged. 

• A supervisor neither abandons students nor intervenes excessively, but works together to find harmonious solutions. 

• Professional knowledge and resources are provided whenever a student needs them. 

• Students can learn research procedures and expertise from the supervisor and develop professional skills by performing various ecological tasks.
