• Emails to people in Iraqi Kurdistan, Hong Kong, England, and Afghanistan.

• Phone call to Nigerian naval officer temporarily stationed in Newport, Rhode Island, USA.

• Trip to Walmart, where I hear "Tonight is Dungeons and Dragons. You gonna buy snacks?"

Me: blah blah blah. Wife: "Your pronunciation is a joke."
