Lesson 8: Reaction Rates and Equilibrium

In this lesson we will explore the factors that determine the energies and rates of chemical reactions. We will learn to calculate the energy changes that are associated with chemical reactions and we will become familiar with the collision theory of reaction rates. We will also learn about Le Chatelier's principle and attempt to understand the behavior of systems in dynamic equilibrium based on the ideas behind collision theory. Finally, we will learn to calculate the concentrations of reactants and products at equilibrium using the equilibrium constant expression.
