CGE Lisbon Symposium 2017
Integrating Knowledge and Understanding in Geography Education
Geography education researchers and practitioners from all over the world are invited to participate in the CGE 2017 International Symposium to be held in Lisbon. The symposium will be an excellent occasion to rediscover the beauty and welcoming warmth of Lisbon, one of the best European capitals to visit all year round.
The main theme of the symposium — Integrating Knowledge and Understanding in Geography Education — will be an opportunity to reflect upon the challenges that geography education faces in many parts of the world. Among other topics, the symposium intends to discuss the role of geography in the curriculum, the relations between geography and the social and the natural sciences, the concepts that should frame school geography, or the meaning of geographical powerful knowledge.
The CGE Lisbon Symposium is organised by CEMRI - Portuguese Open University (Centre of Studies on Migrations and Intercultural Relations) in association with the IGU - Commission on Geographical Education (CGE), and in collaboration with the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon (IGOT) and the Portuguese Association of Geographers (APG).
