Aloha, I'm Charlize Pilialoha Gaudiello.
Reader, Writer, Student
Aloha, my name is Pili Gaudiello. I am a current senior at Mid-Pacific Institute on O'ahu, Hawai'i where I am the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper Na Pueo. I've been a member of Na Pueo since the ninth grade, and joined for my love of reading and writing. Since becoming a Staff Writer, I've written stories which center topics of the queer community, Native Hawaiian life, and community.
I love journalism because of the writing skills I've gained and the information I've learned. However, I also love it because of the bonds I've formed with my writers and my community. Journalism has shown me how to create connections with people outside of my usual circle, and I still talk with people to this day who I met through interviews.
When I'm not writing an article, I'm usually huddled in my bed reading a book or out with my friends. At school, I am also the Editor-in-Chief of our literary magazine, Ka Nalu Ola and the leader of our school's Gender and Sexuality Alliance. In both of these organizations, I use my position as a student journalist to inform my decisions and try my best to contribute to my school's community.
