Join leaders, Building Reps and rank-and-file members from across AFT Massachusetts for the AFT Massachusetts Fall Conference! You will gain new tools and resources to help engage your members, continue to strengthen your local to meet the moment and fight for our students, our members and our communities. There will be workshop offerings on growing membership density, role of building reps, safe school communities for immigrants, how to create a rapid response and mobilization structure, and more!

Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided.

The conference will end by 3:00 pm, followed by cider and donuts from 3:00 - 4:00 pm.

2025 Convention Recap - United for a Better FutureWhile we navigate these times of great uncertainty-whether our in our schools or communities-we must remain UNITED FOR A BETTER FUTURE.Not only did our 2025 Annual Convention live up to that important tenet, which served as this year’s Convention theme, it set us up to stay united into the foreseeable future. The energy and dedication of our delegates was a powerful reminder of how much we can amplify our power and impact when we remain engaged in each other’s communities and united around the collective good.In her first full Convention as President of the AFT Massachusetts, Jessica Tang spoke to the critical role each and every delegate and local plays in ensuring the strength of the union during these challenging times. The AFT Massachusetts recognizes that the power and strength lies in not just the unity of its membership, but its diversity. Each member brings their personal history and perspectives to the table. Bringing everyone together to learn about and from each other as we fight for a common good is something that the AFT Massachusetts is dedicated to fostering. The diversity and inclusivity of our union is what unites us–we may not always agree on everything, but we have more in common that unites us that divides us.

UNPAID LEAVE & SENIORITY

Reminder: Use of unpaid time off during the academic year will affect your seniority date.

Your seniority date will be adjusted according to language set forth in your collective bargaining agreement. (Article 1-06, c., for Teachers/Nurses; Article 15-01 for Professional Support Staff).

Your date of initial appointment (seniority date) is adjusted by the number of unpaid leave days you incur.

A Note About INTERVIEW COMMITTEES

The Union's stance is against having members be on the interview committee for other union jobs as it often pits member against member (especially with transfers and when you may know the applicant). We strongly advise against a union member participating on the interview committee for other jobs supported by the union. You have every right to make this personal decision but we prefer that you stand in solidarity with each other!

We do believe you should be asked to be on interview committees for administrative positions in order to have your voice be heard.
