Marcos Ramirez, born and raised in Miami, FL, is a passionate labor representative with a rich family history rooted in the Cuban immigrant experience. Inspired by his family's success through union opportunities in New York City during the 1940s and 1950s, Marcos immersed himself in the labor union world.
From a dues-paying rank-and-file member to a project organizer during a union-busting campaign in Florida, Marcos has a diverse range of experiences. With a four-year stint as an organizer for the United Teachers of Dade and later transitioning to a staff representative role for AFSCME Florida, he has honed skills in representation, organizing, negotiations, and bargaining. He now works for AFT-Massachusetts where he holds the position of Field Representative assisting the Chelmsford Federation of Teachers along with other locals in the surround long area.
Marcos considers himself an old-school union representative, dedicated to empowering individuals across various professions, including educators, paraprofessionals, office workers, and blue-collar workers. Having recently relocated to Massachusetts, he aspires to pave the way for the success of locals throughout the state and, by extension, across the entire United States.
His unwavering commitment to solidarity fuels his optimism for achieving significant victories for all the locals he represents, and Marcos eagerly anticipates making a lasting impact in the labor movement.
