DIVERSITY, INCLUSION & EQUITY

The Chelmsford Federation of Teachers stands in solidarity against all forms of racism, discrimination, and hatred, and in support of all students, families, community members, and staff. We will continue the fight to not only support but celebrate diversity, equity and inclusiveness. Change begins with us and we are committed to making change by combating institutional racist ideology, bigotry, and discrimination in all forms.

The Town of Chelmsford Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Committee (DEIC) supports Chelmsford’s efforts to become a welcoming town that recognizes diversity, pursues racial equity, and fosters inclusion. The Committee will provide guidance to local governing bodies, municipal organizations, businesses, and residents on diversity-related issues, discourage prejudices and discrimination, and encourage unity in our community.

AFT Massachusetts stands in solidarity with our Black students, families, educators, and communities in Massachusetts and around the country, and joins them to condemn anti-Black racism and police brutality. As educators, we must confront racism in our schools, and in our communities, even when the headlines fade. AFT Massachusetts is committed to fighting for antiracist reforms – real, lasting change that transforms not just policing, but our entire society. In the classroom and the community, we must challenge our own internal biases and fight to transform the systems that preserve them.
