Weekly schedule:
One day/week of in-person classroom learning at the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy (50 W 125th St)
Three days/week of hybrid experiential learning at community-based internship sites.
All fellows will receive a generous stipend of $3,000 for participation and completion of the program.
To be eligible for the CFJL Fellowship, you must:
Be a resident of NYC
Be between the ages of 18-25
Be an incoming or current CUNY student with preference given to those with less than 30 academic credits
Meet CUNY standards for good academic standing (i.e., a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher)
Have a minimum of ~200 hours of documented involvement in social justice work, community service, with a preference to food related activities (paid or unpaid)
Priority will be given to applicants who meet all the eligibility requirements. However, if you are interested in participating, and do not meet all the criteria, we still highly recommend that you apply as all applications will be reviewed and considered.
For your application to be considered complete for review, you must submit a:
Completed application
Unofficial school transcript (PDF)
Current CUNY students can send their most recent CUNY transcript
Incoming CUNY students can send their HS or transfer college transcripts
Resume (PDF)
Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from someone who can speak to your food justice and/or leadership skills. Learn more on how to submit your LOR below!
You are required to submit one Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from an individual who can speak to your food justice and/or leadership knowledge, skills, and experience. Preferred candidates will have ~200 hours of documented involvement in food justice work (paid or unpaid).
Please reach out to your Recommender in advance and inform them of the upcoming January 14th, 2024 deadline! Recommenders have a separate form to complete in order to submit their LOR on your behalf. Please direct them to the LOR form HERE.
Both, your student application and your recommender's LOR form, should be submitted by the deadline for your CFJL Fellowship application to be considered complete and ready for review. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email eman.faris@sph.cuny.edu.
