This guide walks you through the recommended process for setting up your Canvas Profile, Settings, and Notifications. and getting your course ready.
Login and set up your Caldwell Courses (CC) account
Log in to CC at https://cccti.instructure.com/login/canvas.
Once in Canvas, select Account from the global navigation menu on the left and select each of the options to set up your account:
Profile - add your image and biography
Settings - Tailor accessibility, navigation, and interface functionality (check out the User Feature Options)
Notifications - Choose which types and frequency of notifications (set your notification preferences)
Customize the course list on your Dashboard
You might not see a particular course on your Dashboard, but don't worry, that doesn't mean it is gone! To see all your courses, select Courses from the left global navigation menu and then All Courses at the top.
To customize the courses that display in your Dashboard, select the star next to each course name that you’d like to display. Unselect the star to remove a course from your Dashboard. We recommend using Course Nicknames to identify your courses, e.g., BUS 110 M-W 9 am. Nicknames are only visible to you. FYI, students can do this, too!
If you have multiple sections of the same online course, you can cross-list your courses, which combines enrollments into a single course shell. One course shell means only needing to manage content in one place. You can easily assign different due dates and materials to your different sections. Cross-listing MUST be done BEFORE you add content and publish your course. Fill out this form to request cross-listing for your courses.
Only if needed: create a development course
If you do not have access to your upcoming courses yet (remember, be sure to check your All Courses page first!), CETL can create development courses for you to begin adding content and designing your courses.
