December is ABC'S Suicide Prevention month. In the era of Covid-19, as we all try to protect our mental health and cope with uncertainty, it’s more important than ever that we be there for each other and take steps to prevent suicide. There are simple things we can all do to safeguard our mental health, and you don’t have to do it alone. The participation, support, and active involvement of families, schools, and communities are essential. From learning the warning signs for suicide and what to do if you are worried someone is struggling, to promotions and prevention strategies we can all learn new ways to help each other save lives.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a 24-hour, toll-free, confidential suicide prevention hotline available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. When you call 1-800-273-TALK (8255), you are connected to the nearest crisis center in a national network of more than 150 that provide crisis counseling and mental health referrals day and night.
