Relativistic Quantum Field Theory is an aspect of fundamental physics research in the Theoretical Physics department in Maynooth with direct relevance to CERN. Jon-Ivar Skullerud is involved in numerical calculations of the strong interaction (lattice gauge theory) that are essential for interpreting the experimental results from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, and in particular the experiments where heavy ions are collided to create a quark-gluon plasma, while Brian Dolan's research relates more to mathematical and conceptual aspects of Relativistic Quantum Field Theory.
