What should I wear?
Wearing suitably loose fitting clothing reduces the need to undress to undertake the examination. Please wear a 2 piece outfit and avoid dresses. If you are over 40 and know that you are going to need an ECG then be aware that this involves attaching stickers to the chest wall.
Therefore for all cabin crew needing an ECG it will be necessary to expose this area of the chest. For female cabin crew, please wear a sports bra or t-shirt bra with no underwire (as underwire can affect the ECG).
Please wear shorts to preserve your modesty to examine legs.
UK Class 2 certificate validity
How long a Class 2 medical certificate is valid for depends on what age you are when you are examined.
If you are under 40, the certificate will be valid for 5 years but will not be valid past your 42nd birthday.
If you are aged between 40 and 50 the certificate will be valid for 2 years but will not be valid past your 51st birthday.
If you are aged 50 or over the certificate will be valid for 1 year.
The examination will take just under a hour.
